What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

It was very important for us to keep on gaining more feedback while we were creating our advertising campaign. It helps us notice things that we did not notice ourselves so we can make changes in order to improve it. This is what would normally happen when making movies as it is important to get regular feedback. They do this to improve and to make sure it is suitable to whoever the audience is.

After finishing the draft of our horror movie trailer, we screened it to the class to get audience feedback to find out what looked good and what needs to be improved. The class were given feedback sheets with some questions about the conventions of horror movies, what was effective and what needs to be changed. This was good as the people in class fit in the 17-24 age group that our movie is aimed at.

After the first screening of our horror movie trailer and looking over all the feedback, one of the biggest faults was that the narrative was not clear enough. However, we do not want to give too much of the plot away. Another criticism was the low variety of shots and that some of the shots were not relevant to the plot like the washing up clip and the crawling clip. We decided to take the washing up clip out of the final draft of the trailer but we kept the crawling shot in. The other criticism was the sound. The audience felt that the music as it was slightly offbeat and slow at times. As well as this, there were little noises of talking in between shots. We took most of the criticisms and improved them. We acted upon most of the criticism we got given from the audience feedback.

As well as showing us what needed to be improved, we also found out what the audience liked about the trailer. Some of the audience felt that some individual shots including the hand on the door, mirror and gate shots were effective in the trailer. The audience commented on the lighting of some of the shots and the music saying it built up tension.
